Emily Filler
Emily Filler's multimedia art practice begins with photographs-often taken in her father's garden-that she then transfers to silkscreen. Filler builds her painterly collages on canvas using pieces of fabric paper and expressive swatches of acrylic paint, layering the different materials until her subject matter has transformed into something fantastical and abstract. Filler's unique take on a traditional style was reflected in her 2020 solo exhibition "In Bloom," where viewers were transported into a dreamworld of imaginary landscapes filled with fantastical bouquets of flowers. Filler has a BFA from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. Her work has been widely shown in solo exhibitions across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom, and can be found in private and corporate collections worldwide.
